The SSBC (Sousa Sien Bunseki Center), also known as the Crime Support and Analysis Center, has a newly established violent crimes department. Their job is to collect and analyze CCTV footage, smartphones, computers, and profile criminals. They provide specialized support for the First Criminal Investigation Division.
The SSBC violent crimes unit includes Igaki Shuji and Nanami Rintaro. Shuji is a former detective from the First Investigative Division, but he was transferred three years ago after causing trouble there. He has a strong sense of justice and he is not happy with his work in the SSBC violent crimes unit, where he can't handcuff or directly interrogate criminals. His ex-wife is Aoyagi Haruka, who is the chief of the First Criminal Investigation Division. Rintaro previously worked for a foreign securities company, before transferring to the National Police Agency. He is intelligent and very good with numbers. As he learns from Shuji, they begin to work effectively as a team.
