Ai, a shy high school girl, meets Yu, a transfer student who has returned from overseas, and is interested in her, but is frustrated by Yu's inability to adapt to group activities at a Japanese school. One day, a student gets on all fours in the schoolyard and stops moving. Even though teachers and friends try to stop her, she doesn't move, and soon other students start to line up on all fours next to her. Strangely, the school also encourages them to join in, seeing the human pyramid as a "good thing," and the students piled up in a pile all have calm expressions. For some reason, Ai also tries to join the pyramid. This was just the beginning of a strange mass phenomenon that would engulf the entire area.
