Manga artist Kishibe Rohan hears the horrifying confession of a masked man in a church in Venice.
It is a confession of a curse that was placed on him for accidentally killing a homeless man, making him "experience despair at the height of happiness." The man, who has been desperately trying to escape happiness, one day sees a girl playing innocently and feels "true happiness." At that moment, the homeless man who was supposed to be dead appears and challenges him to a challenge using popcorn.
